She starts each work by drafting her design on graph paper. She has created her own style of weaving, synthesizing techniques from a British rug weaver, Jason Collingwood, with traditional Navajo techniques and some more modern Californian techniques. The weave pattern she utilizes produces a reversible rug with a light and dark side.
The owners, a family who lives in an area with many early century homes, decided to keep some of the old features of the house while adding also a feel of contemporary. Modern aesthetic became an important issue, so, in order to obtain a harmonic blend of old and new, an architectural firm was contacted. , in lead with the project, executed the house’s extension.
The exterior materials include stone, wood and stucco. Inside, the combination of white oak, mahogany, rosewood and zebrawood creates a warm atmosphere in contrast to the cool modern style, while expansive skylights generate shifting light throughout the day.
