Widely known for its tranquil and beautiful suburbs, Melbourne (Victoria, Australia) is an inexhaustible source of architectural inspiration. From modern to fully traditional venues, the city keeps expanding its boundaries, enriching the landscape of the suburbs. We’ve stumbled upon Thornbury House, a traditional dwelling with a contemporary extension.
The ground floor is an open space with a continuous pavement, where the dining room, the kitchen and the living area are located. First level accommodates three bedrooms and two bathrooms. The second floor was also turned into an open space, flooded in natural light through skylights and a cut in the cover that originates a small terrace with beautiful views to Finisterre and the Carnota bay.
The addition welcomes light inside, completely transforming the living space. Welcoming and bright, this new white and light-friendly structure accommodates a laundry room, a bathroom, the kitchen and a living room area, for family gatherings.
